COVID-19: UPDATE June 2020

In accordance with the advice of our professional body and regulator, I can confirm that I am now available to treat patients in Ealing, Harpenden and the OCC, albeit in a very tightly controlled way.

Osteopaths are currently permitted to offer face-to-face consultations for people who:

  • cannot be helped remotely

  • do not have any symptoms of COVID-19

  • are not self-isolating due to exposure to someone who has tested positive

As an osteopathic consultation requires the osteopath and patient to breach the 2m social distancing guideline, we will need to discuss the risks AND benefits of a face-to-face consultation before an appointment is booked. It is important that you tell me if you have been advised to ‘shield’. As part of this discussion I will also explain what I have implemented to help minimise the chances of infection whilst you are here, including changes to the look and feel of the treatment session and my use of PPE. This will help you to make an informed decision about coming to see me for treatment.

If you would like to book an appointment, please contact me to discuss your case further. My telephone number is 07497 810634 and my email is cutticaosteoathy@gmail.com or alternatively please use the contact form on my website.

BEFORE you attend an appointment, please familiarise yourself with my COVID policy below.

MY COVID POLICY

This policy is based on the most recent Public Health England advice

and is therefore likely to change (June 2020).

PLEASE CHECK IT BEFORE EACH VISIT

WHAT I WILL DO.

  • I will call you on the morning of your appointment to verify you are well.

  • On arrival, I will take your temperature and give you some antibacterial gel for your hands.

  • I will wash my hands before and after seeing each patient.

  • Following Public Health England guidance for all healthcare practitioners, I will use an appropriate level of PPE: I will wear a mask when within 2m of you and an apron for the duration of the treatment.

  • I will ensure that appointments are run to time to minimise the risk of patients crossing paths.

  • The cloakroom is only to be used in cases of emergency.

  • I will disinfect surfaces and ‘often touched areas’ such as the plinth, pillows and door handles after each patient leaves.

  • I will ventilate the room for 15 minutes after each patient.

  • If I am unwell on the day of your appointment, I will contact you immediately.

WHAT YOU CAN DO.

  • You MUST NOT attend if you develop a fever, a new cough, shortness of breath or loss/change to taste or smell prior to your appointment. This is also true if you have been advised to quarantine for any other reason.

  • Current advice is to stay at home for 7 days if you have any of these symptoms and if someone you live with has symptoms you need to stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person in the home started showing symptoms.

If you develop symptoms, please DO NOT go to your GP, pharmacy or hospital. A useful link for deciding what to do or if you are worried is:  https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.

  • The cancellation fee will be waived for anyone not attending for COVID19 related reasons, but I would be grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible.

ASSUMING YOU ARE WELL AND CAN ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT.

  • Please either call me from outside or ring the doorbell with your elbow at your exact appointment time.

  • Only the adult patient is allowed in the treatment room.

  • Only one parent per child is allowed in the treatment room.

  • If you are bringing a baby, please bring a clean muslin cloth for them to lie on whilst they are being examined.

  • As there will be no toys or activities available, please feel free to bring your own.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION
